Jericho Walls by Kristi Collier... I loved this book. It was set in the 1960's in the south but what I liked was that the main character was a white girl, the daughter of a preacher. The preacher father moves his family back home from the north and the daughter had never heard or seen a lot of racism before. She tries to make friends, but the nicest boy is black. It is a cute story reminding me that we all need to be more childlike.

Runaway Princess by Kate Coombs... So fun. If I were a princess, this book would have been about me. She saves the kingdom even though she is just a girl.

I have also read a series of books called Girls of Many Lands. All of these books are about girls coming of age. It is also full of girl power, they are based on the dolls American Girls. Yes, I know that I am too old to read these books, but I liked them.

Isabel: Taking Wing (England) by Annie Dalton.

Cecile: Gates of Gold (France) by Mary Casanova.

Spring Pearl: The Last Flower (China) by Laurence Yep.

Minuk: Ashes in the Pathway (Alaska) by Kirkpatrick Hill.

Neela: Victory Song (China) by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni.
